Popunder
A full page that opens in a new tab or window behind the one the user is looking at, discovered when they close the current one. The cheapest large-volume traffic there is, sold per thousand by pop networks.
Also called: pop, pop traffic.
The user visits a site, clicks anywhere, and a new window with your landing page opens underneath. They see it later, without context, so the page has to explain itself in a second: a big promise, a spin-to-win, a sweepstake, a download.
Pop traffic is where smartlinks, sweepstakes, antivirus and utilities live. Bots and fraud are part of the deal, so trackers, blacklists and a tight budget are the way in.
