Shaving
A network or advertiser hiding some of your valid conversions and not paying for them. Hard to prove, easy to suspect when the approval rate drops for no reason. The tracker and a test lead now and then are the ways to catch it.
Also called: shave, lead shaving.
Shaving is fraud against the affiliate: the lead was real, the sale happened, the network reported a rejection or nothing at all. It hides inside normal rejection rates, which is why it is rarely proven.
Compare your tracker's conversions with the network's report; run the same offer at two networks and compare approval; send a lead yourself and see if it appears. Networks with a reputation for shaving are marked as such in the reviews on this site.
