Mirror site

A copy of a site on a different domain, launched so users can still reach it when the original address is blocked. In gambling and betting, operators keep mirrors ready and send affiliates fresh links whenever a domain goes down.

Also called: mirror, mirror domain, mirror link, working mirror.

The mirror has the same accounts, balances and design; only the address changes. Regulators in markets such as Poland and Brazil keep adding unlicensed gambling domains to their block lists, and offshore operators answer with new domains, sometimes within hours. For the affiliate, every block means links in posts, channels and bios that now lead nowhere.

The usual fix is a link you control, a tracker campaign or a redirect, pointing to whichever mirror currently works, so a block costs a single edit instead of an edit in every post. It comes with 2 risks. Fake mirrors built to steal logins and deposits copy the same design, so take addresses only from the operator or the network. And where the operator is blocked, a working mirror is still an unlicensed operator, with the legal exposure that comes from promoting it.
