Wagering requirement
How many times a player must bet bonus funds, sometimes bonus plus deposit, before cashing out. A 35x requirement on a $100 bonus means $3,500 in bets. Affiliates who advertise a bonus have to state it correctly.
Also called: wagering, playthrough, rollover, WR.
A hypothetical example: a player deposits $100 and gets a 100% match, so $100 in bonus funds. At 35x the bonus, they must place $3,500 in bets before the bonus turns into withdrawable cash. At 35x deposit plus bonus, it is 35 × $200 = $7,000. Game weighting changes it again: if table games count at 10%, a $100 blackjack bet clears only $10 of the requirement.
The math shows why a high requirement favors the house. On a slot with 96% RTP, the theoretical loss on $3,500 of bets is 4% of $3,500, or $140, more than the $100 being cleared. Rules differ by jurisdiction. In Great Britain, since January 19, 2026, licensees may not set wagering above 10 times the bonus funds or mix product types, such as casino spins in a sports offer, in one incentive.
UK advertising rules treat wagering as a significant condition that must appear prominently with the offer, and the operator answers for its affiliates' ads. The common mistakes: writing "35x" without saying 35x of what, and leaving an old multiplier on a review page after the terms changed.
