Redirect
Sending a visitor from one URL to another automatically. Trackers use redirects to record a click before passing it on; some ad formats use them to move a visitor off a page without a click.
Every tracking link is a redirect: the click lands on the tracker, which records it and forwards the visitor to the lander or the offer. Server-side redirects are fast and invisible; a chain of several adds delay and loses mobile users.
Redirects also power some grey formats: a pre-lander that forwards after a countdown, a back-button redirect, a page that sends a bot one way and a person another. Ad platforms treat those as cloaking.
