Trillion started in 1997 as a maker of SEO and SEM tools and went on to build one of the larger domain name portfolios. In 2008 it launched Above.com, a registrar and marketplace for domain investors, and its Trillion Direct network, formerly the Trellian Direct Search Network, lets advertisers bid on the direct navigation search traffic those domains produce.

For advertisers the platform sells product and brand search placements - browser search, buy-now-pay-later flows, coupon sites, commerce content and sponsored answers inside AI chat - together with content and contextual formats: tiles under the search bar, the top slot in an email client, in-text content links, contextual ad blocks and native units. Inventory is described as coming from publisher relationships including Yahoo, MSN, Weather.com, Affirm and Afterpay.

Campaigns start from the signup or demo request form on the site; conversion rates and sales are shown as case figures rather than a rate card, and no minimum spend is published. On the supply side, domain investors monetise through Above.com, where several channels compete for each visitor. Its own channels are LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
