High roller

A player who deposits and bets far above average, usually handled by a VIP team. On RevShare a high roller can make your month, or wipe out several months of commission with a single big win.

Also called: whale, VIP player, big player, high-stakes player.

A few high rollers can produce more NGR than hundreds of regular players, so they swing your balance both ways. When they lose, your commission jumps. When they win, NGR turns negative, and under negative carryover the loss is taken from your future earnings, including what your other players bring. A hypothetical $20,000 win leaves a $20,000 hole in NGR, which at 40% is $8,000 of commission to earn back before you are paid again.

Many programs have a high-roller clause. A common version separates the player from your pool: their negative balance is carried only against their own future revenue, for a limited period, and the rest of your players keep paying. Read how the program defines a high roller, who decides, and whether you are told when a player is flagged.

The quieter effect is cost. VIP players get cashback, bonuses and personal offers, and if those costs sit in the NGR formula, the operator's retention budget partly comes out of your share. Ask whether VIP costs are deducted, and look at your high rollers' months separately from the rest of your players.
