Glossary
Banner network
An ad network that sells banner placements across its publishers, by impression or by click, with targeting by GEO, device and category. Cheap volume in Tier-2 and Tier-3; adult and mainstream networks run separately.
Also called: display network.
Banner networks differ in inventory (mainstream or adult), formats (standard IAB sizes, mobile banners, interstitials) and moderation. Most affiliate use is on adult and Tier-3 mainstream networks, for dating, utilities, games and iGaming.
Google's display network is the big mainstream one and the strictest; the affiliate-friendly networks live on the sites Google will not take.
