Display advertising
Visual ads: banners, teasers, video and rich media placed on sites and in apps. Bought by the impression or the click, from ad networks or direct from the site owner.
Also called: media advertising.
Display is the oldest paid format on the web: an image or a video in a slot on someone else's page. For affiliates it is bought through ad networks and exchanges rather than site by site, priced per thousand impressions (CPM) or per click (CPC).
Display formats used in affiliate campaigns include banners, teasers, native placements, pre-rolls, interstitials and pops. Each has its own audience, price and review rules.
Related terms: Banner, Teaser, Native advertising, CPM, Ad network.
