Carrier billing
Subscriptions charged to the user's mobile phone bill: the user on a carrier's mobile network taps a button and is subscribed, sometimes with a PIN. Paid per subscription; runs on mobile traffic identified by carrier in Tier-2 and Tier-3.
Also called: WAP-click, one-click billing, mobile content subscriptions.
The offer works only for users on mobile data from a specific carrier, because the carrier identifies the phone. One tap (WAP-click) or a PIN by SMS subscribes the user to a video, game or horoscope service billed daily.
WAP-click without a PIN was the classic mobile grey flow of the 2010s and is now restricted in most GEOs; the compliant versions with confirmation and clear pricing remain.
